Just so people are not misled, this thing does NOT allow you access to the internet. It is a storage device, not unlike a hard drive, that you and other users can connect to wirelessly. It would be great for sharing videos, allowing several users to watch different saved movies at the same time on different devices, but you aren't going to be able to surf the web, send or receive e-mail or do other web things with it. To do that you will still need to connect to the internet.

Actually, the Seagate 1TB wifi hard drive can connect to the internet. While at a Disneyworld resort last week I used it as a repeater. Hotel wifi was strong at the door. Weak signal around the corner. I set the Seagate wifi drive near the door. Then from a tablet, went into settings to connect to hotel wifi. I still have access to all stored media. The real advantage to this is one could be watching a movie or listening to music and not miss an important notification. A friend bought one after playing with mine. He also uses it as a repeater to get to his shop elsewhere on the property.

All of these type devices that I have used have the pass-thru feature where they allow you to access another wi-fi hotspot in order to have access to the wi-fi storage and the internet at the same time. What westernrvparkowner is pointing out is that these devices do not provide access to the internet by themselves, an additional internet connected wi-fi source is required in order to have internet access.
