I will talk about the fairly inexpensive Nano-Station
now the connector on that is LAN not USB so if your computer has a LAN port,, go for it I will describe the advantage in a second
if the comptuer has only USB ports get a USB to Ethernet (LAN) adapter at some place like best buy.
WHY
Maximum length of a USB cable is,< I think 30 feet
Maximum on a LAN cable is like 200 or 300 hundred feet
I can take my Nano station and "Run it up the flagpole"
aroudn 50 or 70 feet from my ROuter if I need to (The flagpole is a Sunsitter telescoping flagpole,, I was not kidding when I used that line)
or I can mount it on a Mirror arm, step ladder, any handy Upright in the 2" diamater ranger works (or larger dependin on the hose clamp I use)
