Some power specs:
TP-Link = 100 milliwatt
NanoStation locoM2 = 200 milliwatt
BearExtender = 1200 milliwatt
The maximum length for a standard USB cable is 5 meters (16 feet), but there are active adapters that allow for up to 50 meters.
A USB WiFi adapter gets power from the USB port on the computer. The NanoStation uses a separate power adapter.
For about $15 the TP-Link will work. It is the simplest and cheapest. It will most likely work fine plugged directly into your laptop. If there are problems, get an extension cable and mount it high and toward the WiFi source. If you might need to connect to more distant sources in the future, the BearExtender would be a better choice.
