Will a Winegard Carryout Dome (GM-1518) survive roof

Thinking of mounting the Carryout Dome (GM-1518) in place of old AS-2003. Using this mount mount with no legs done previously, I'll just leave it up there when no trees and stick it out on a 50' when needed. It seems easy... what am I missing? I'm not an electrician. It says the old AS-2003 draws 3Amps and the Carryout (gm-1518) is powered by a A/C to 5.8Amps DC converter. It just seams unlikely that the older, bigger, heavier sat dish takes less juice to move it than the little motor(s) on the dome. Anyway... can I just cut the proprietary plug off the end of another Winegard power cord and wire it in to where the AS-2003 was?

If your answer is "get an electrician", what kind of electrician do I need? An RV guy, a satellite guy? All I really need is any ol' electrician with a meter and wire chaser (and knows how to use them), right?

Thanks, Bill. Won't be drilling any holes... will be using the base plate of the Winegard Tripod and mounting that to stainless L brackets.

That should work just fine. Just be sure you also have some way for the dome to stay locked into the base as it's just a twist that holds it in place but it can also untwist.

Thinking about a bungy cord through the handle with just enough tension to keep from turning. Another thought is a padlock. I know it won't lock anything, really, just proof to me at a glance whether or not the dome is secure.
