Go to your Privacy setting and turn OFF everything you do not like.
Then go to Network - Advanced and set the connection for Metered Connection.
You will only get needed security updates.
It will explain how this works. There are also a number of discussions on the
web about this function in W8 & W10.

So far I feel that W10 is above anything MS has offer yet.
We have XP, W7. W8.1 and W10 in the house now.
