The "majority" don't seem to be paying attention to all of the details being offered. They also seem to be more concerned with making nit-picking criticisms of other users than with really solving the problem.
I think that the VAST majority of users don't really want to shut off the updates altogether; I certainly don't. What I want is CONTROL over what gets loaded and when. I choose to have them downloaded when my link isn't being heavily used for something else and installed when my PC is idle.
It looks to me like NONE of the solutions being offered yet gives us the functionality of notification of new patches AND user control over when they are loaded.
Microsoft thinks all of its users are morons.....and I think it is THEM who are the morons.
