Win10 and data usage

I am not currently running 10, that said, it seems every new revision of windows is calling home and using more data every release,

this is more of a beware of how much data windows can use. there are ways to disable this call home via editing hosts files, but this is more of a FYI for people

I have W10 on 'reserve' for weeks now. No signs of it.

Look in your update history and see if it says "Update Win10 Home failed". According to Microsoft, this indicates that you must wait for the notification from them and then it will install (when you are ready to install).

This showed up on my Win 8.1 laptop this week after reserving a few weeks ago. There are apparently ways to force the install but it seems better to wait for this "notification" from MS and let it install as intended.

I will give it until the end of the month and see what happens.
  • Staples did a clean install of W-10 on this computer and so far I like what I see. There are some changes that I am getting used to, but everything has worked perfect and the screen is clear as a bell.

There does seem to be a little increase in data usage, but not to drastic. I will be able to tell more at the end of the billing cycle, but so far I am pleased with everything.
  • Simple fix for Windows 8.x or Windows 10. In your Network settings you can go into your Wireless SSID and set it to a Metered Connection. This disables a lot of background activity that uses data up.

Don't confuse data usage with the user privacy issues that the main stream media is all over like flies on s#$@.
This is a good novice friendly primer of privacy settings and Windows 10 "phoning home", but mildly on the paranoid side.

Not sure about data useage since im at home, but I sure dont like the looks of win10. On my laptop everything looks blury. Have gone in three times trying to get it to look sharp. Still looks like ****. Shame on Microsoft!

not to derail this, but, blurry is generally because of incorrect screen resolution or bad or generic display drivers
