Select either the 32 bit or 64 bit whichever is appropriate.

When you run the tool, you will be given the option to either upgrade or create installation media.

How are you notified that Windows 10 is ready to download to your computer? I have pre-registered two machines about a month ago but have not received any notice that it is ready to install. When I click on the icon it takes me to the page and says to click to be notified. :h

I've been using Win 10 in VMs since the first Technical Preview was released by MS. It's an OK OS but I don't feel compelled to upgrade my computers to it. Win 10 isn't any better or any worse than Win or Win 8 for me.

However, last night just for the heck of it, I upgraded an 8 year old netbook with a 1.6Ghz N270 Atom processor and 1.5GB of RAM from Win 7 Pro to Win 10 Pro. The upgrade went very smoothly, only thing is that it took 2.5 hours. This netbook originally came with XP Home. It runs better with Win 10 than it ever did with XP.

All-in-all, a positive experience.

It's interesting that you say that because tablet people are complaining that Win 10 concentrates too heavily on making the desktop computer crowd happy.

I have Win 7 Ultimate on my notebook and had problems going to Win 10 Pro. I downloaded the ISO and created a bootable USB thumbdrive. It did not like two different product keys that I tried and would not activate.

I then restored a Win 7 drive image that I had created and then went the upgrade route. This went without a hitch. Once the upgrade was finished I booted up from the USB drive and did a clean install of Win 10 Pro. When it prompted for a product key I continued without entering a key. Once the install completed it activated.

I installed windows 10 last night from 8.1/ It had many things not working, some apps, mail etc...I didn't like the setup so put 8.1 back on....

went from 7 to 10. took awhile but basically smooth. its similar to 7 but a few things have different names. mine takes longer to boot up now. only program i lost was my anti virus. had to download it from scratch.

I'm waiting until a major service pack comes out or whatever they may call it now. I'm happy with 8.1 and see no need for any debugging right now.
