I have a widows 7 at work and a windows 8 at home. now that the learning curve is over I like the windows 8. I have not had any trouble with windows 8, we purchased a new laptop for one of the guys at work and its a windows 8 machine and I had no trouble setting it up to the network, he has no complaints about it. if you get a touch screen you will need windows 8. I opted not to get a touch screen, widows 8 is mostly app based, but my desk top is set up just like windows 7. I would get windows 8 and get through the learning curve because that is how windows will be from now on, lots more web based programs (office 365- going to try that next). JMHO
