Absolutely 8 (actually 8.1). It's like asking if you should buy the brand new 2010 Camaro or the the brand new 2014 Camaro. I guess it's OK to buy the old stuff but the new stuff actually is better.
I have and use 8.1 (and previously 8) without a touch screen and it's just great. Easy to work with, interfaces I am used to and no compatibility issues with any of my existing hardware. How bad can that be?
