Windows 8 or 7. Which would you choose?
Hi, all. My current Toshiba laptop is getting a little long in the tooth and runs WinXP3. I don't know much about the newer operating systems so I'd like to hear from any of you tech savvy folks about...

Strollin - I run only Wdw8, not 8.1 as I didn't do the upgrade because I already bought the Wdw7 OS for it, and regardless, will change to Wdw7 ... I like it a lot better ...
Yes, I will figure out a way to photo it ... and post or send it to you. It's simply says - the program needs updating asks me to go online to upgrade it - but the upgrade (click) is the new Word program. It still converts my 'save word' docs to the new Word version and then my Word program will not open them. The only way I can open the saved word docs is with Wordpad, THEN I can re-save them to Word 2007 ... quite annoying.
OF note: When I get a word doc sent from someone on an email, it opens the document online somehow and I can read it. But, when I try to save that document, it saves it only in the new Word program (Orange Icon). I believe the way it saves it adds the x, and it becomes docx instead of doc - I'm not sure how or why that happens or what makes it a docx ... but I can't open it or use or edit it in docx ... have no clue why.
All this might be simple for a tech person to understand and fix - but that's just not me - I tried some things RV.net folks recommended (you included I think) -- some worked, some didn't. So, will return to Wdw7 and become a happy camper again.
We're just home now about ten days, after a six month trip with this hassle in Wdw8 ... I learned somethings about it, but still don't like it, and like Wdw7 much better, plus once I learned Wdw7, just don't want to go through it again - the learning. And, we have three computers, and ALL have Wdw7 - so it makes sense to put Wdw7 on my laptop as well.
When these become totally outdated, we'll have to change every one over anyway. Course, maybe I'll find that great campground in the sky before that happens, or maybe that happening will install me in the great campground in the sky - it already ripped out the last hair I had.
