The nice thing about newer Windows versions is the ability to run virtual machines. If I need a program that only runs XP, I fire up a virtual machine and run it inside of that. This isolates older programs from the latest and greatest OS. Plus, I like being able to keep my Quicken/Quickbooks/Peachtree data in its own secure environment so malware on one VM isn't going to be able to access data on the finance based virtual machine.
