Windows Surface RT & Google Earth

Hi, I purchased a Windows Surface RT at Christmas and have started messing with it, I upgraded it to Windows 8.1 and the full Office.

I like using Google Earth to preview places before I drive there to check out the best parking areas. When I try to download Google Earth I get a warning stating that this app is not allowed.

Does anyone know how to install this program on my Surface?

Thanks,
Terry

It is not necessary to install Google earth to get satellite views of parking spaces. Google Maps in satellite view mode does this just fine, even better street level view takes it one step further...

I cannot even find a way to have google maps on this device.

Do you not have it connected to the internet?

Google maps is a web site. maps.google.com

    Thanks, I will try this.
  • The Surface RT can only run apps downloaded from the Windows app store, it can't run Windows programs that you download from various websites.

Google maps website is accessible via your web browser. You could also use one of the map apps from the Windows store to view satellite images.

You might try BING maps. they offer much the same features as GOOGLE, for most parts, Google is, however, the overall better program. and has features BING likely will never get.

Oh, and put a fireplace in your RV for FREE
From the Windows App Store: Free Fireplace App.

(not heat but nice cracklling flames).

  • From what I've read, GE isn't available yet for that platform.
