Even the Surface Pro 1 and Surface Pro 2 came with Win 8. My daughter uses a Surface Pro 1 as her main computer. It has an i5 cpu and runs Win 8.1 effortlessly. I prefer my Surface Pro 3 but the Surface Pro 1 is still a decent machine.
