Windows tablet recommendation

Anyone have a Windows tablet? This will be a gift for someone who asked specifically for a Windows tablet so no need to suggest any Apple or Android based tablet. She has a very nice Toshiba Ultrabook and would like a Windows touch screen for email and internet surfing. I would like to stay at $400 or less.
  • Don't buy a Surface 2 or older tablet that has the Windows RT operating system.
Windows RT 8.1 only runs built-in apps or apps that you download from the Windows Store. It cannot be upgraded.
The Surface 3 or higher has Win8.1 or 10. I have a Surface 3 and it'll pretty much do anything a laptop will do with better battery life.
The Surface 3 has the Atom processor which is surprisingly fast and good on battery life. The Surface 3 pro has the i3 or i5 processor which is fast but uses more power.

We found the QVC and HSN TV DEALS to be a great place to purchase the computers deals being offered that usually come with many additional added features and software and support. Most of the computers are the latest DELL or HP units...

They have the extended payments with no interest deals as well.

We have finally replaced all of our computers and tablets now using them...

Here's a Windows tablet straight from Microsoft, it's refurbished so there's a significant discount:

    Surface 2 Tablet

Downside is, for whatever reason, Microsoft strayed away from Intel when they built the S2, so it's likely stuck with Windows 8.1, no Windows 10 upgrade for now...

I've looked at some of the older Surface models and I have a Pro 3 myself, she has Win 10 on her laptop and work desktop and would like the same interface on the tablet. Great link on a good refurb unit.
  • I have a Toshiba Encore 8" tablet and an HP Stream 7". Both Windows 8.1. Both are fine for email and web surfing. Nothing fancy; each < $150 when I bought them last year.

  • ASUS. Many levels available. Both my wife and I have one. Her's is 11" and mine is 13" but both work for "us". Both have detachable keyboards so they are actually convertible laptops. I "need" a keyboard and I use mine in that manner more than a do as a tablet. My wife is exactly the opposite and uses the tablet option more often. Either way, we both use both options and we are very happy.
