Somewhat changing the subject- other than a lot of ATM machines running XP (albeit, modified), a lot of large industrial power systems apparently use it (link to a WSJ blog). I read recently about a large industrial system, delivered this year, running XP.
That's a huge reason to go Open Source- a system running a *nix system (or BSD) could be supported by 3rd parties easily.
