Just picked up a new to me 1996 Lance Squire with one of these on the roof and no manual. I downloaded the PDF and found quite a bit of info on line but need to hear from the rv.net pro's!!Here's the situation. I am a long time DTV customer out of contract and use the DVR in my home but going back to full timing. I assume I can use my current equipment and just plug in to the coax in the camper.. The camper came with a Dish remote.I read on another forum that this issue of Winegard likes to use Dish but will work with either carrier. I also read that if you want the full HD treatment it has to be Dish. I currently have and will be starting out for now with a Samsung 19" Model UN19F4000AF. Don't know any thing about HD and not sure if I care until I upgrade to a larger TV. I'm sure I will do this at a later time so thinking I should just plan to use the equipment I have for now and need to get feedback on that.. Much appreciated!

Assuming the antenna works, it will work fine with DTV but not with Dish Network due to changes by Dish.So, you can get DTV SD programming but not HD (ever with a dome). The on/off switch for the dome will be a simple toggle switch, likely with a green switch which may light up if the bulb is not burnt out.If you have an HR24 or earlier DTV DVR it should work. You will not need the B-Band converters if you are using those at home now and you will need to find 2 coax cable runs (which only one may currently exist) from the antenna as you need 2 coax inputs from a dome to make the DVR work.You will also need to change the Repeat Satellite Setup routine and make sure you are set for an 18" round antenna and Multiswitch.

I'll be doing this checkout hands on later today and will let you know how it goes and bound to be more questions.. This must be the green switch you mentioned and it is not installed flush like it should be..? It appears to my eye that you have only 1 coax cable coming out of the antenna along with the 12V power line (which comes from that oddly mounted switch). The other wire runs to the square GPS module you are asking about.If the picture of your receiver is how it is setup at home and you are able to watch one channel and record another with only the 1 coax input then your home antenna setup uses DirecTV's SWM (pronounced swim) technology and you will not be able to use a similar setup with the Movin' View. You can add about $100 worth of hardware (simple installation) between the antenna and the receiver or you will need to get that 2nd coax cable run from the dome into the coach to connect to the 2nd input on the receiver.You can take a look at this information from Winegard on how to update your antenna to SWM.SWM8 Setup

Hey Bill thanks for that.. Now that I look a little more closely I think you are correct. One is fatter than the other and that would be the coax. I guess that also explains why there is only one male coax inside the rig as per typical..Looking at the back of my receiver I do note that it says SWM.. Well, when I get closer to blasting out of here I don't mind spending a little cash on setups so will be trying to learn all this in the mean time..

Even though your receiver says SWM that just means this option is available but does not require it. The picture shows only 1 coax so I am guessing the ANTENNA has the SWM hardware making it usable by the receiver. When you move it to the RV you can add the SWM8 hardware as mentioned above and still require the 1 coax coming into the RV to watch and record 2 different (SD) channels. You will also need to change a couple of settings in the receiver to show SD channels only and you may have to change the antenna type setting.
If you don't want to go SWM the current receiver will work with the older technology but does require the 2nd coax to be run from the dome to the receiver.

Can't the receiver be set to use just one non SWM coax? If not he can still try just the one to confirm the dome is working with a error message on the second tuner before going forward.

OP, When I was moving the HR24 there were about 6 setup items to check including dish type, TV type and IR vs RF remote.

If he does not want to use the 2nd tuner at all them he could use that receiver with that one coax. He would still need to set the receiver to 18" round, Multi-Switch and the change it to single tuner setting.

Just to chime in, all I want is what I have now. That would be great.
One room system, one DVR and TV and tuning in with the dome.
You guys probably already know this so just keeping up...
