Wingard Batwing antenna rotation

The Winegard Sensar "Batwing" TV antenna can not be rotated a full 360°. There is about a 10° dead spot and of course sometimes that's exactly where one needs to position the antenna.

Can the base be modified to allow a full 360° rotation?

I would really be surprised if the broad antenna beam width of this simple dipole antenna would care about 35 degrees. Maybe on a high gain antenna with many director elements.

I spend winters in south Florida out in the boondocks and am usually quite some distance from the TV transmitter sites. I have the Wingman attachment which makes the antenna more directional, so a few degrees makes a big difference.

If you simply notch out the bottom of one side of the rotating housing, you would reduce the dead spot to not much.
    That sounds way too easy!
  • I think you came up with a great and inovative idea, I think some of the others may have a differnt idea and maybe even better in some ways. I just like how you think.

I have the same antenna and have the Wingman but have never installed it. I will install it an check signal levels vs pointing angle.
