OK, first, my gear. I have the VIP211K and the Wingard CarryoutGM-MP1. Purchased 2 years ago and I used it for 1 season.I was able to get standard programming and my locals (Omaha NE).It worked good and I never had too much trouble finding my satellite. Last week I wanted to turn my service back up so I could get somefootball games while I was out camping. I signed up for Americastop 120 with the HD option. I point to EchoStar 110 and I geta signal strength of about 50. I get several channels includingseveral HD and my locals. I don't however get all of the channels I should including the ESPN channels I wanted for the ball games. I think (based on some reading) that my limitation is my Carryout GM-MP1.Can you guys confirm my thoughts about the GM-MP1? Also, any recommendations about which dish would suit my needs?Thanks for any input.

The Hd channels are on the western arc sat 129º

Dish provides programming from 3 satellites and the MP1 can only be pointed at 1. You are going to need to pick your battle and decide which pieces of programming you want and point toward that satellite. 129 has most of the HD and 119 has most of the other channels while 110 carries the least but might have your local Networks.

OK, pretty much what I was expecting to hear. I am gradually learning this stuff. Thank you for your responses.Is there a better Carryout dish with more than 1 LNB in it? Seems that would be the way to go.

But shouldn't it toggle automatically between satellites when you choose a channel that comes from a different satellite?

The Carryout dome antennas have only 1 LNB but will move between the 3 satellites automatically when you change channels. However, instead of costing about $200 like your MP1 they run closer to $650.Winegard has just release the Pathway X2 antenna that will work automatically with your 211K receiver and it retails for about $400.

I point my MP-1 between 110 and 119 until I get 40+ signal strength on both. If I'm watching 119 (where my local channels are) and want to watch something on 110, I have to go to Install settings, change to 110, wait a few minutes for it to do its thing and I'm good to go. I have never tried to lock onto 129.

The MP-1 is not the easiest to use but the least expensive. Works for me :)

This should get you to a list of what channel is on what bird.

Dish programming is spread across 3 satellites, and I suspect the channels you want are on 129,,, but I'm not sure since I have not followed that link.

Since you already have a 211K receiver get a Dish Tailgater. That unit is designed to work with your receiver and will automatically find the satellites and will switch satellites when you change channels on your receiver remote. It is a single cable hookup.

You can find them online for $349 and possibly less.

You also could go with the tailgater and get all 3 sat's including HD. Yes it's only can be used for one tv but it's very easy to set up. We love ours.

You could point a single LNB antenna to 72.7 and get ALL of the Dish programming from a single satellite (but no Network programming). You generally need the larger 18" dish to catch the bird but it is possible to do.

On this chart it has ESPN on 61.5. I have DirecTV at home and Dish in the TT. I get almost as many stations with a little fold up dish aimed at 61.5 as I do with the dish 500 aimed at 110 and 119.

The Carryout MP1 is not an auto pointing antenna but a standard 1 LNB antenna that the user manually points.
