Yet another DISH question

OK, first, my gear. I have the VIP211K and the Wingard Carryout
GM-MP1. Purchased 2 years ago and I used it for 1 season.
I was able to get standard programming and my locals (Omaha NE).
It worked good and I never had too much trouble finding my satellite.

Last week I wanted to turn my service back up so I could get some
football games while I was out camping. I signed up for Americas
top 120 with the HD option. I point to EchoStar 110 and I get
a signal strength of about 50. I get several channels including
several HD and my locals. I don't however get all of the channels I should including the ESPN channels I wanted for the ball games. I think (based on some reading) that my limitation is my Carryout GM-MP1.

Can you guys confirm my thoughts about the GM-MP1? Also, any recommendations about which dish would suit my needs?

Thanks for any input.

  • OK, pretty much what I was expecting to hear. I am gradually learning this stuff. Thank you for your responses.

Is there a better Carryout dish with more than 1 LNB in it? Seems that would be the way to go.
  • Dish provides programming from 3 satellites and the MP1 can only be pointed at 1. You are going to need to pick your battle and decide which pieces of programming you want and point toward that satellite. 129 has most of the HD and 119 has most of the other channels while 110 carries the least but might have your local Networks.
