? CL-A TOWING A 2d VEHICLE ?

I don't get it. Why is it most class A coaches towing a 2d vehicle tow it on its own tires? It only increases wear & tear on the 2d vehicle. And most of them have no protection from road debris picked up by the Cl-A. If I had a Cl-A there the only way I'd tow a 2d vehicle is on a trailer. And I'd go all the way making it an enclosed trailer so I'd have my own traveling garage along with my mobile home. Color matched of course.

X2 - You can do it your way and I can do it my way. Wonderful world isn't it?
  • The only positive I see with a trailer is the ability to back up the thing. Everything else is just more complicated, more hassle more weight, more negatives.

One of the reasons we wanted a Class A over a travel trailer was the quick and easy set up of an A versus all others.

I would think a car hauler trailer would require a WD hitch right off the bat. That's a big pain.
  • Why would someone pull a TT and not just get a truck camper. That's more wheels on the ground to take care of and possible debris hitting the TT. Same concept, right?
  • Thanks all for the insight. It's a bit different hauling m/c or ATV in toyhauler.
  • I have seen one use of a large enclosed trailer behind an "A". One of the renaissance faire people that does "the circuit" has a type A, and a trailer. The enclosed trailer when on the road holds the husband's vehicle, a Harley trike, and the wife's vehicle, a subcompact. When at the destination, both vehicles come out, shelves are folded down, and the trailer then becomes a work office.

It works out well for them, but it does mean a lot of maintaining -- four vehicles that have to be insured and registered, sixteen tires to replace (especially with a tag axle), etc.
