Instead of your "hobo pies" has anyone heard of banana boats?
Basically slice a banana in half lengthwise. Use mini marshmallows, and milk chocolate, alternating the two. Wrap the whole works in tin foil, shiny side in. Place the foil package next to the fire where it can all warm up and melt the chocolate and marshmallow. Unwrap the package after a few minutes and enjoy.
Or for all those aunts and uncles out there I used to teach mine about "ghost gum". Take a regular marshmallow and start pulling it between your thumb and forefinger of each hand. Kind of like a mini taffy pull. Keep pulling until it's soft and stretchy.
Hint, keep a damp towel on hand to clean up after.
