Bottom line do your homework. Check the specs on the trailer and truck. If you go with the half-ton, make sure it will pull to your satisfaction. We had a half-ton and we go into the North Carolina mountains quite a bit. Didn't take us long to figure out we needed more truck. It, the 1/2-ton, would pull great on the flatts and smaller hills, but the mountains not so much. Ours isn't a daily driver so we overlook the drinking problem in favor of its work ethic.
