Out West you may get by with out a car. But in the Old Southern historic cities. You will need a smaller vehicle. Yes you can rent one. And to see anything around Wilmington NC or Charleston SC. You will have to. A full size car has trouble running thru historic Charleston. those roads were made for horses, not cars. A Motor Home. Forget it.
I guess what I am saying. If you tow a trailer. You can use the TV to see things. If not, and you don't rent a car. You are going to miss most of what you came to see.
