"10 months... out West" For that long I'd be tempted to get a cheap car and a tow dolly as you will be staying places for several days at a time.
I often chuckle at those worrying about a 30' Class C as we usually shop with our toad hooked up and do not have a problem finding sites big enough, but not on Friday afternoon out West. Get a RV that will be comfortable for the three of you.
