Otherwise, all you needed was LOTS of water. I've had a couple of clogs from not using enough water.
I would have taken the nozzle off of the toilet hose and shot that down into the clog. I'd wait an hour and see if the water had sieved through the mess and repeat.
Twice I've made a big enough mess that I had to plunger it. No worries about any clogs on down the line because all that was needed was more water.
There are posts of toilet paper tests of breakdown in water on this forum. Use a good TP that will break down (I use Scott's (their super soft one / double roll)) and a lot of water and there will be no problems.
If you START to even think you have a clog, more water!
There was absolutely no "need" to expose your skin to that muck. Force it down with a plunger and add water.
