A Little Noob

My last rig was a travel trailer toyhauler. I'd like to hear about your experiences and advice about what I may run into in campgrounds around other RVs, different site rules, etc.; your experiences with getting around in them with the following type of rig.

- ~25' Class C
- ~16' tandem axle, enclosed trailer

I'm only interested in how to manage the rig in different campground environments; regulations; will I always have to cut the trailer loose in a separate area to park, are charges higher for any reason, etc.

TIA

  • I don't see that you would have anything unusual. Any pullthru site would probably allow you to pull in and keep trailer attached if you want. We pull a utility trailer behind our 36' motorhome and have only had 1 pull thru that wasn't long enough for us. Park wasn't busy so owner let us take up 2 spaces , but only charged us for 1.
  • Travel trailer toy hauler (assume you had a truck to tow it) (2 items; 1 vehicle)

    vs.

Class C with enclosed trailer. (2 items; 1 vehicle)

No difference between the two as far as a campsite cost.

Isn’t a TT and pickup a similar length set up than what you’re asking about?
What is the question? It’s a truck and a trailer. Your old setup was a truck and a trailer. Only difference is the house is on the truck, not the trailer.

    Re-read the question.

  • You'll probably be looking for pull-thrus in most of the places. The length of the trailer may put your electrical connection too far away from the pedestal.

Most places I've been to have some kind of trailer/overflow/storage parking available.
  • No additional charges if you fit on the site. The majority of parks won't allow you off the parking site. Keep in mind that if you have a rear door on the trailer you have to unload whatever first before backing in if there's a tree behind the site. Otherwise, no issues.
