A water hose (s) suggestion for newbies

It took me many years of RV'ng before finally learning that shorter is better.
I gave up my fifty foot long stiff garden hoses and went to four 25 footers, and got the El Cheopo white ones in the RV section of Wally World.
I no longer curse when I am half way through coiling the 50 footer and it falls out if it's coils. The shorter ones are much easier and also more pliable. Also easier to store.
You might not use four or even three, but I do many times and I like to have the fourth just for a spare.

This is strictly a suggestion, and you can take it or forget it.

  • We carry a 25' and (2) 10' white hoses.
I've never used one of the 10s.
A few times I've got by with just one 10' hose.

    Same with cable vision cables.
    A 25' is usually enough, but I have a 10' and a 6'.
    Most hook-ups are with a 10 or a 6' length.

    In 'Slinkys' I carry a 15', 10', 5', and a home maid 3' dump hose.
    Most times I use a 5'.

Depending on where you camp... IT'S ALL IN PARKING YOUR RV...

Yes on the 25' and for more length I carry up to six 50' collapsible or flat hoses for even more compact storage.

Wow, I shudder to think of needing over 300' of hose! If I'm a football field away from the water faucet, I don't use it; that's what the onboard tank is for. :)

    I carry one 10', and one 25'.

when in state parks that are electric only, thats how you fill your onboard tank :)

why would you haul around a 10' 25' 50' and 75' as one suggested? the rv parks I stay at have a hose bib on the site.

I would think that would be obvious. Because we often stay in places other than RV parks with hookups. With hookups the 10' is usually enough though not always.

In many state and national parks and USFS campgrounds there are only a few faucets placed around the campground and to reach these I sometimes have to run the hose under or around the truck to the side opposite the filler cap location which is a 25' run and then another 10-15 feet to the hose bib location. This is also where the water thief attachment is needed.

We have stopped over at friend's houses during our travels and used their water to add water and this is where even 60 feet of hose may not be enough and I don't want to use their garden hoses. That is why I carry two 25' and one 10' hose. Easier to manage either the single 25' or single 10' which is all we need 90% of the time. The 60' option takes care of the other 10%.
