Based on your budget - or actually because of your budget, you will find yourself with an RV that might not only be unreliable but when you add in maintenance and repairs on top of fuel this will not be a cost effective alternative to hotels. RV's are expensive by way of maintenance and repairs not to mention the fuel. There will be tax advantages if you buy under your band but the out of pocket expense is still yours. RV mechanics are expensive and unless you plan on spending a lot of time wrenching instead of playing or practicing you won't avoid their costs and the time it takes to make said repairs. You will have missed gigs standing around drinking the RV's shops horrible coffee. If you add 10-20k to your budget you might end up with something reliable and feasible but in a 5k budget I think you would be better off digging a hole and throwing your money into it and walking to your next gig with a tent rolled up on your back. An RV like that is a good project for a family who wants to take weekenders. To make it reliable to live and tour in would add a LOT of time and money.
I applaud your enthusiasm but I just don't see it working out with that budget. I would love to be wrong.
