You can't learn much from brand names, as many brands build to more than one quality/price point. Yes, there is a connection, but price is not enough to go on because two different brands may be different quality at the same price.
Cheapest quality will either be what is included in a budget priced "starter kit" or what you find at discount stores or import outlets, "Cheepo Depot" comes to mind among the places I've shopped.
If you know exactly what you want, you might order it on-line, and hope that you get what you think you are buying, rather than a substitute or counterfeit.
If you don't know what you want, go out to the store and look at the stuff you think you want to buy, compare the different pieces, decide what is adequate for your needs. Most dealers carry a range of quality/price, some discount stores may carry only the lowest cost products.
Biggest variation I find is sewer hoses. The least expensive pieces sold will leak the first time you stretch them out across a concrete pad, the plastic over the coils can be that thin. You can pay up to ten times as much for a hose, but get one that will last ten years rather than single use.
