well it is symantics but I don't believe the switch enables LSD meaning (Limited Slip Differential), it is in fact fully locked. That's also why it disables itself above 30k an hour. Just a possible explanation of what he means.
I believe it became prevalent on the 2011+ superduty trucks, no idea on the other brands. It's enabled by pulling out on the 4x4 switch.
