Just for perspective, I have a 28 ft 2002 Safari Trek class A with a 8.1L Vortec, weighing in around 16,200 pounds loaded I am currently on my way home to Louisiana from a trip to Wyoming which included a few days in Yellowstone, I think I probably crossed the continental divide 8-10 times during the trip, and never had a problem getting over the passes, though I did slow to under 50 mph on the climb a couple of times. Would a turbo diesel have done it easier, probably as it would not have been down on power with the thin air, ... but I made it ok
