We can set our PUP up in 30 minutes or less. I think any time in setup is made up for with easy towing. Not having access while traveling doesn't bother me although I've never known any different. Having to raise it at home to check and see if the blankets got left in the PUP is a pain. Packing for a trip is definitely harder.
On the F-150, I have a supercrew with a flip-back HD cover for rain. The flip-back was around $1,000. Gas mileage isn't great but the new ones are better. The biggest pain for me with an F150 as a daily driver is parking it in tight spaces.
