We started with a really old army tent one summer. Before Summer's end we all had pop up campers ours was used bought in 1986 for 1500 dollars sold it 10 years later for $1800. We moved up to a 1988 motor home. One year later we ordered a brand new MH. It is now 20 years later and we still have that "brand new motor home". But the very best years of camping were in that used pop up. Went it rains it sounds like popping corn on the roof. Grandkids still talk about that sound. They also grew up camping in a pop up. They are now 30 & 28. Both born in April start of camping season up here in the north so they were weeks old when they started. As for supplies hit the garage sales and Goodwill etc. for great bargains on stoves, lanterns stool, even chairs
, posts and pans, dishes. Up here we got small electric heaters for cold nights also we used electric mattress pads to keep us warm. As every one has said don't waste time and memories n. Get some air mattresses or cots for the tent and start making memories. Our 28 year old brought his tent sleeping bag and big dog over 4th of July we had so much fun. His sister has a 16 mo old and is expecting again she has been searching for a used pop up for awhile now but the get sold before she can get there. So get going have some fun make great memories. Happy camping.
