I don't think anyone can really answer buy new or used. You have to shop for yourself. What you can afford and what you can locate that is acceptable to you and your family.
I believe that one statement answers it all.
If it were me and I had the finances, I would buy new. Not that there aren't some real bargains on used out there. But even a well kept RV will have maintenance issues sooner than a new one. I'll eat the initial depreciation buying new in order to get exactly what I want rather than what someone else originally wanted.
