I hate dealing with banks. They are in the business of lending money and collecting your payments with interest, of course they want you in debt. RVing is not a cheap undertaking as you have discovered....especially when you have to finance it. Set your sights lower and look at smaller units that don't need a 65k truck to pull. We have a 30ft unit that is perfectly comfortable for us and it was 20k, I pull it with my 1/2 ton which was in the 35k range. It can be done and you can be perfectly comfortable. Good luck.
Loans and debt are not evil. Heck, I can pay cash for practically anything I could ever want. But I was able to get into that position only because I could, and did, borrow money, often at much higher rates than the OP is being quoted. Sometimes those loans were for things other than necessities. To me, those luxury purchases were necessary to help keep my sanity while building my business to the point where I am now. I wouldn't put off buying something I know I would enjoy for 5 or 10 years while I saved the money to pay cash if I felt reasonably secure in taking on that debt. Who knows what can happen or why they want that luxury item now. It could be because they want to enjoy an RV while the kids are still kids. It could be one of the primary users has a progressive disease like MS and has a very limited window for when they can use the RV. Maybe the buyer realizes that in 5 years they may have to use their free time to take care of an elderly parent. Maybe the activity they enjoy in relation to the RV is one they are not going to be able to participate in five or ten years from now. Things like mountain climbing, extreme whitewater river sports, base jumping are all activities you tend to age out of. Delay and postpone long enough and we will all reach the end of the road.
