I sold two RVs and bought two RVs on craigslist. No problem at all. My own intuition is the best tool. I think I'm savvy enough to know if something doesn't sound right or sounds like a scam, then I just move on. I like talking with the seller. I ask alot of questions to see if they seem to know what they are talking about with the RV....questions about usage, maintenance, history of the RV. Get them to talk about the trips they made in it, the way it handles, etc. This is all just to see if I think they are on the up and up, and if they have been taking care of the RV....aside from me checking for leaks, body condition, engine mechanics, drivability, etc. I like it if they have the maintenance records. And I like to know how someone has been treating their RV.
Like others said, look everywhere. And be patient. The right one will come along.
