My hint is to never use the tote for black water...
Hi. We are newbies (just brought our TT home Saturday) and have never camped before but my husband saw the totes and we have questions (hope they are not dumb).
When weekend camping, we know to empty the black hose into the sewer dump upon leaving, but if camping for a week (which we will do in June), there is a tote to wheel over waste to the sewer dump? You said you never used the tote for black water? If not, what do you do? Thanks!
As previous posters have stated, your will most likely have to empty the gray tank several times over a weeks stay. The CG doesn't provide a tote - you bring your own. Camping World has a nice one in vaious sizes that you can tow - the handle fits over the hitch ball. Depending on how many people you have, the black tank MAY need to be emptied. Don't make the mistake of not using enough water while flushing just to avoid filling it up - you don't want the stuff to get hard. And you decide if you would rather break camp and tow your TT to the dump station or use the tote for black water. I tote my black water all the time when needed - just make sure you have a box of disposable latex gloves. The CW totes also have a hose hook up that sprays water into the tote to clean it out. It also has a little stem that pops up when the tank is full - when toting black water, I never completly fill it up. Depending on tank size, you may need to make 1 to 4 trips, but IMO, much better than pulling the TT to the dump station - think of the work that would involve both inside and out. I got over being squeamish about it just comptemplating that. Minimize gray water dumping by conserving water - no hollywood showers and use minimal water in sinks. Paper plates and plastic utensils can be thrown ayay. Hope you have a great camping experience in June!
