Have documentation(passports are best) in hand for you, documentation of any pets with up to date health certificates readily available, sunglasses off, hats off, make eye contact and answer all questions briefly and honestly. You may be the lucky recipient of a random on-board search. If so, follow directions which require you to step outside, relax and be patient.
They are doing a job and while bothersome if searched, it is going to be what it is. We always expect to be boarded and have only been boarded and lightly searched once. If you have nothing to hide, all that it can cost you is some time.
Be aware of the regulations on what can and cannot be taken into both countries especially when it come to gun regulations, booze, food restrictions which change, and medications (original containers.)
Most of us worry more than is required and almost all border crossings are easy! Happy travels.
