Bumper Pull vs. Fifth Wheel

I purchased a 2013 F250 6.L Gas 6.7ft bed with 4.1 axle to pull a RV. As this will be my daily vehicle for the next 2-3 years, I did not want a diesel. After a renting a 26 ft. bumper pull for a short weekend trip, I am considering a fifth wheel at less than 9,500 lbs. total weight. I am a concerned about wind resistance with the fifth wheel. I know the fifth wheel with tow and handle better than a bumper pull. Any thoughts on my best choice being a bumper pull or fifth wheel withmy rig? I an a newbie and any advice is much appreciated.

  • "Bumper pull" is a bad term although I have seen several campers attached to the factory bumper. We just returned from a trip to Cedar Hill State Park with a properly setup trailer hitch and 35' long travel trailer on I-20. We had to negotiate one wreck which choked a lot of traffic from 5 to 2 lanes. Some construction zones plus cross-winds all the way back to west Texas with out a problem. We have been a lot of places with out travel trailer.
