Buying First Motor Home

My wife and I figured out some must have and don't want things when we were shopping for our first travel trailer. I was still learning and knew that tongue weight was my limiting factor for our setup. We shopped for a couple of years, going to RV shows and looking at a bunch of used trailers. We found one within our budget, loved it, but we were at our tow vehicle limits and towing sometimes towing was not very nice. We upgraded to a truck from SUV and then started searching for a trailer that met our new needs (kids grown and on their own), again watching CL and local newspaper ads, along with the shows and used trailer lots. Once we settled on which model we wanted, we searched for it, knowing we had to buy used to be in our budget. It took more than a year, but we found it.

Educate yourself, make a list of must have items, floorplan preferences, etc and don't believe everything (sometimes nothing) from RV salesmen and even private sellers.

If you are not mechanical, you need to find a trusted mechanic to help avoid a money pit.

Instead of asking for advice on motor home brands,,I should have ask advice on avoiding scams..Really getting disheartening,,I am trying to look local now but even at that I managed to find a scam..I have found a few other dealers on craigslist,,they'll have markup,,but should be legit..Thanks to all on here who have helped..A few helped save my behind for sure..

YEP,,Another scam!! Wouldn't even receive my call cause it was the same area code I guess,,I dialed the number and got a recording "Call Rejected".. 3 scams in the last week I have stumbled onto..and I thought I finally had it made cause it was a local coach!! Man I gotta do some smarter shopping..this is getting discouraging for sure.. Thanks for the heads up Big Katuna,,you kind of woke me up to it for sure..Well,,back to the hunt!!

That is too cheap for it. There is something really wrong with it or it is a scam.

It should be $50-70K.

I can not even find an Endeavor listed at 43ft,,The longest I have been able to find listed is 40ft,,but the ad claims it's a 43footer..and the lowest price I have been able to find is $46K,,I think your right about something being wrong with it,,some where

searchcraigslist.com for Safari, Beaver and Harney coaches in that same year range. Similar quality and layout. Good Luck.

Well it doesn't look like the RexHall is going to work out,,the seller claimed I was a scam?? Now how can I be a scam if I am buying it?? Just doesn't make sense to me,,but I swear that is what he said..So I am open to any suggestions on where to look,,Preferably closer to Kentucky..Thanks for all the info and help..

We may have found our first motor home!! There is a 1999 RexHall Rose Air That is for sale on Ebay..Renee and I fell for the interior right away..I have been talking with the seller and if he'll wait for my settlement to come in toward the end of October then we'll have a deal..I'm just waiting his answer now..AND..to top everything, someone who is an experienced RV'er and a member of this forum, and lives in the same city, has offered to take a first hand look at the unit to set my mind at ease..Wish us luck..
