Campsite Lengths

This is my first post as we are in the process of ordering our first TT - a Timber Ridge 270DBHS. We have only tent camped in the past so knowing how long the pad was didn't really matter at the point. What I am wondering is when checking for length of the pad, should I always calculate the length when hitched together or can I reduce the length because we can unhitch?

    For the most part you can reduce because you can unhitch. But keep in mind the need to park your vehicle. Some places have very strict rules about where you can and cannot park. You may only be able to park directly in front of your unit.
