Can Anybody Tell Me What These RV Buttons Do?

Hello All,

I have a 2004 Chateau Class C. On the edge of the Kitchen Island near the sink there are three buttons.

One button starts the Generator (Start/Stop)

There are two other buttons which I haven't pressed which are baffling me. I'm afraid to press them simply because I don't want to press them and have something bad happen.

One button has a WATER SYMBOL on it.

The other button has an ELECTRICITY LIGHTNING BOLT symbol on it.

I know that the water button is not for the water pump because there is another button above the stove that turns the water pump off and on.

Any ideas what these are for? My model didn't come with a manual and I cannot find the manual at Thor Motor Coach website (not for this year).

Thanks

TheFitRV, how do you know if your water heater is full of water? There's no gauge for that. Would turning the water pump on insure it is full of water?

Yes - IF you get water out of a hot water faucet. Also - if you are hooked up to the cg water supply it keeps your water heater tank full automatically.

True as long as the tank bypass is in the tank use position.
  • Also, if you have multiple people taking showers, you can turn on both propane and electric for a ill quicker recovery for hot water.

Yep - you'll want to have a look at the bypass. Assuming that's correct, then using hot water from either the tank or water hook up will fill the tank.

As a side note, I always fill the water heater from the water hookup. I don't like running my pump for what seems like forever to fill the tank.
  • Also, on mine the red light in the middle comes on when the gas igniter switch has cycled 3 times without lighting the burner. You have to turn the gas switch off and on to reset it.
  • All the info that has been posted is correct. But there has been an upgrade probably made by the previous owner, that upgrade is a good one and it the addition of 2 green LED lights that indicate that the switch is indeed in the ON position when it is lit. In your photo the green LED that is ON indicates that the electric switch is ON, The other green LED is for the propane switch and it is off so the propane switch is OFF. Now just because the electric switch is ON doesn't mean it is now running on 110 V AC, you still have to be plugged into shore power or be running the generator for it to work. So turn on your hot water faucet and if you get a steady stream of water the heater should be full. If you get a spurt of air leave it run until you get a steady stream of water. This is (If the bypass valve is in the correct position)
  • Do not press the one of the left!!!!!!. That is the fire button for the nuclear silo in your area.
