You need more battery storage.

Once you have enough battery, the generator for an hour is very much viable but you won't get to 100%.
Your charging system might put out 40amp-12v but once the batteries get around 80-90% full, they rapidly taper down in terms of how many amps they will absorb. At the same time dropping the batteries below 50% charge damages them. So figure your capacity as around 30-40% of the rating (50% charged to 80-90%).
Take the items that you will run and calculate how many amps each draws and how many hours you want them to run. Your storage capacity should exceed that.
