We level the RV from side to side, and I will use the electric tongue jack to raise the hitch to level the RV front to back if needed. Sometimes I drop the jacks and sometimes I don't, just depends.
I always follow the same routine when we are getting ready to get underway regardless if we've stopped for a night, or a week. If we unhitch or not, I do the same routine.
This includes checking that vents are closed, doors inside are latched and fastened, hot water heater is off, stove vent is closed and latched, etc. etc. etc.
I don't chat on the phone, I don't chat with the neighbor, and if I'm interrupted I start over.
So far, works for us....
