Can I use travel trailer while still coupled to tow vehicle?

We're looking to hit the open road with our travel trailer. Is it okay to spend the night in our travel trailer while still hooked up to the truck? I'm thinking in terms of random stops for 6-8 hou...

X whatever. We always unplug the cord half azz level and drop the stab jacks. Never have released the tension on the bars.
I am paranoid about losing the trailer on the road so I check all connections before pulling out in the AM and at every fuel stop.
