Can I use travel trailer while still coupled to tow vehicle?

We're looking to hit the open road with our travel trailer. Is it okay to spend the night in our travel trailer while still hooked up to the truck? I'm thinking in terms of random stops for 6-8 hou...

I should have mentioned that I do release the tension on the bars in addition to unplugging.
