Class A air conditioner

We live in Florida and one unit air conditioner does not keep
us comfortable while traveling.

We thought we would put a 2nd air conditioner in our rig. There is a
14x14 vent where we believe we can fit a non ducted a/c unit.

We have 2 questions: Would there be wiring in that area to use for
new unit? It seems the size would fit perfectly.

Also, all we can find are online stores to purchase the new unit.
We are looking at Coleman 13,500 btu unit. Don't know if it is
wise to order through the mail.....has anyone??
  • Because of the weight of the AC I would think some additional roof joists would be needed in the area. If the area around the vent was not intended for the weight you might have some real problems.

Would there be wiring.. Likely but no guarantee
Would it fit. Yes, 14x14 is the standard

Suggestion.. If you have to route a cord along the roof to the rear (less there is a window there) and then down to ground level, install a 20 amp INLET at that point and plug in separate from the RV at the park box

Of course if they put the wire in you won't need to do that.
  • Unless your mh was pre-wired for a second unit the odds are low that there are any wires there except perhaps 12v for a fan. The 14x14 opening is just the right size for the std roof mount AC. Others may chime in on how to wire it but at a minimum you may have to replace the generator to have sufficient power to drive both AC's at the same time.

If you only have one unit now what size is it? Could you swap it for a more moreful one?

Welcome and I recently posted a good deal on ones in New Port Richie...they could install. Do an advance search at top of the page for "heat pump" by Ivylog in the last week. Yes, they all fit in a 14x14 hole but there may not be 120V power to it.

Now that I'm not on my phone, .......here is the link.
