John Wayne's idea is well worth the try. We started out with an elderly, 26' "C" to try the lifestyle. Loved the lifestyle, but hated that "C", Primarily for its Ford 460 with a carburator and enough smog gear for a small city. Gas consumption was a big issue (6 mpg at sea level and 4.5 at altitude)
We sold it after less than a season, then stared looking for a decent "A". Finally found one in our local newspaper ads, a 32' Georgetown, and kept it for four years (sold in 2004). Finally, gas prices were its downfall - it was typically around $4.25 a gallon in most of the places we went.
