Classes for total newbies?

Do any dealers or organizations in the Atlanta area offer hands-on classes on the care and maintenance of RVs? Class C is the one I'm thinking I'll be most comfortable with. I'd want to know things like how/where to fill tanks, common problems and how to fix them, maintenance for a Class C, and so on. I don't have friends with RVs who could show me. I'd like to learn a lot more than I know now, and rent/try one on for size.
  • Most all your questions can be answered here. The only place that might offer more information would be: Escapee's Boot Camp
Some of the items you mentioned are brand specific but general in nature, filling tanks, emptying tanks and setup.
  • Unfortunately Good Sam is not having its annual east coast rally at Perry GA which would have been the perfect place for you to learn.

Googles rv rallys ie; Good Sam, FMCA, Escapees, etc and attend one of your choice. They provide many seminars on just about any subject you'd want to learn about.

Other than that, your best bet is to do some searching here on rv.net or just ask specific questions...one at a time...

Remember, we all started out as newbies at one time or another.

  • I noticed my local dealer constantly has people pulling in for things most of us do ourselves (winterize, change battery, wash and treat roof, clean awning). I supposed if they offered a class they could lose a bunch of business ;)
  • Don't know of anywhere that offers such classes. But YouTube has a wealth of information, videos, examples, and covers just about any topic, repair, item, make, model, or style of anything you can think of ... repair, fix, or how to!

YouTube is great. But I will admit, sometimes I wish the posters of the videos would just get over the initial BS and just get on with the topic under discussion. But, be patient and sift through the muck-and-gunk. And compare videos too. Sometimes it takes more than 1 to get the full picture.
  • No but a search on this forum will reveal a wealth of valuable information. And if you can't find what you are looking for, ask. You'll get lots of knowledgeable answers.
